Frozen Chocolate Covered Bananas were always one of my favorite after school snacks and now my kids love this easy snack just as much as I do!
Some times as a food blogger I spend so much time trying to come up with new and interesting recipes that I forget about the classics. When I was a kid one of my favorite after school snacks was Frozen Chocolate Covered Bananas. I remember dipping them and covering them in toppings and then putting them in the freezer for a quick treat after I got home from school. I had totally forgotten about this easy snack recipe until recently and my kids are absolutely loving it!
When my son gets home from a long day of school he’s tired, and hungry, and just needs a little time to unwind before we start in on homework. We’ve worked out a deal. If he’s had a good day and earned some screen time he gets to play a game or two on my Android phone or his Amazon Fire tablet while he eats his after school snack. He may only be 6 but he already knows how to download apps himself (seriously kids these days are so smart!). To avoid having to explain to him why he can’t download an app because it costs money I’ve set it up so that he can go to Amazon Underground where he can download any apps he likes. Amazon Underground gives you access to over 3,000 apps and games that are 100% FREE when you download from Amazon Underground on your Amazon Fire tablet or Android smartphone. Pretty good right?
They have over 300+ premium Education apps (Dr. Panda, Flashcard Machine, Easy French, etc.) and I try to steer him towards those. He doesn’t even notice that he’s practicing his spelling, reading, math, etc. while he’s playing. It’s a fun way to give him a little break after a long day and there are no micro-transactions, paid upgrades and waiting times like with other apps so I don’t have to worry about getting a surprise bill after he’s made an in-game purchase (yep, that has happened!).
Amazon Underground has over 300 educational app. I downloaded and interactive spelling game for my son. Being in the first grade is tough 🙂 Download the #AmznUnderground app on your Amazon Fire or an Android smartphone for access to FREE games! #ad #education #kids #interactive #learning #teachers #android #smartphone #amazon #amazonfire

Everything in moderation right? We keep screen time to a reasonable amount each day and Frozen Chocolate Covered Bananas aren’t an every day occurrence but on those days when you combine screen time fun with these Frozen Chocolate Covered Bananas may just win you mom of the year! 😉
- 2 Bananas
- 1 c Chocolate, finely chopped
- Anything you'd like to top then with (nuts, sprinkles, raisins, etc.)
- Cut each banana in half width-wise.
- Place chocolate in a coffee mug and microwave for 30 seconds at a time until smooth.
- Put a lollipop stick or a popsicle stick in the bottom of each banana half and then dip them into the melted chocolate. Tap banana gently on the rim of the mug to let extra chocolate fall off. Lay on a piece of parchment paper and sprinkle with toppings.
- Let chocolate harden completely then place them in an airtight container and put them in the freezer until you are ready to serve.
