Beach Letter Set
This decorative Beach Letter Set is the perfect way to decorate your home for summer.
The beach is one of my favorite places. When summer gets here and the sun is shining the only place I want to be is laying on the beach basking in the sunshine. I try to spend as much time there as possible! I’m lucky, my parents have a place at the beach and I’m able to take the family there for long weekends (or if I’m really lucky long weeks!) and my kids love the sun and sand just as much as mommy. I’ll admit now that I have kids there is a lot more playing in the water and building sand castles than laying out in the sun working on my tan, but I’m not complaining.
When I saw the Beach Letter Set at The Wood Connection it was like it was meant for me! I had been looking for something to decorate my mantle for the summer months and this couldn’t sum up my feelings about the beach any better. I kept the decoration pretty simple. I found some great scrapbook paper at Hobby Lobby and decided to go with a beach scene with sand and waves, and two colors of weathered wood, navy blue and white. I painted all of the wood with two coats of white paint and let it dry. Then I traced the letters onto the scrapbook paper and used Mod Podge to glue them to the wood.
I love the weathered wood scrapbook paper, doesn’t it look great?! The weathered look is perfect and using scrapbook paper was so much quicker than painting and distressing it myself and I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t have looked as good. I especially love how the navy weathered wood looks on the sailboat that is the letter “A”.
The set also comes with navy blue vinyl lettering to put on the base block. All I had to do was peel off the back of the vinyl and then lay it down on the block. I used a credit card to smooth out all of the bubbles and make sure it was firmly stuck to the wood and then I peeled back the transfer paper and it was done. “Beach Life if the Best Life”, I couldn’t have said it better myself!
It’s sitting up on my mantle right now reminding me that in just one short week I’ll be back at the beach soaking up the sun!
