Some of the best projects from Home. Made. Interest. for 2014

It’s been a big year for us. We started this little blog in March 2014 and thanks to all of your support we have grown by leaps and bounds. We have learned so much and had so much fun doing it! With 2014 coming to an end here is a look back at some of our favorite posts of 2014.

10 Fall Slow Cooker Recipes | Home.Made.Interest.

Melinda rounded up these awesome slow cooker recipes and it was one of our most popular posts of the year. It’s pretty clear why, all of the recipes look so good and nothing is better than putting something in a slow cooker at the beginning of the day and coming home to a meal when you get home.

Family Handprint Plank Wall Art {}

This was one of our favorite projects. Melinda had her whole family put their hand and paw prints on a board and we added their names underneath with vinyl. This Hand Print Wall Art was such a fun way for her to capture a moment in time, those kids are growing up way too fast!

Acorn OREO cookie balls are simple to make all you need is OREO cookies, cream cheese, and melted chocolate to make a delicious OREO truffles. #OREOCookieBalls #shop

Our OREO acorn balls tasted as good as they looked and they were so easy to make!

During the holidays there is so much food! Delicious recipes are everywhere! This year, forget the cupcakes, serve your guests these easy pie parfait shots. You don’t even need to make the pies yourself, save some time and pick some up at the store. Your dinner guests will love getting to try a little of bit of each without stuffing themselves and it will look so fancy!

If you’ve been reading the blog for awhile you know we are all about fancy presentations that make it look like we did a lot of work…even when we didn’t. These Pie shots are made with  store bought pies but they still managed to impress at a holiday party.

We spent a lot of time filling up Melinda’s empty walls this year and I thought Melinda’s idea to use Latitudes and Longitudes for a special place to create a piece of art was so creative.

#Family Wall Art

Melinda’ is the face behind @hmiblog on Twitter and hashtags are totally her thing. We made this #Family sign to add to her gallery wall and we loved the look of the painted burlap.

Billy-to-Built-In Ikea Hack {}

It wasn’t all about Melinda’s house though. I finally got around to building a built-in bookcase for my living room using Ikea Billy Bookcases. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. It totally transformed the room!

Upcycle Cans to Planters {}

Who doesn’t love a good upcycle project? I got swept up in the succulent trend this year and these cute little planters made the perfect holders for them.

This cheesy shrimp casserole is an easy recipe to make for parties or just a simple family meal. Cheese and rice cooked with shrimp make a delicious meal or appetizer. You can cook it as one big casserole or in individual dishes. It’s one of my favorite quick recipes for special occasions!

We ended the year with some delicious recipes that we often serve to guests or enjoy with our families. I shared this cheesy Shrimp Casserole, a recipe my mom used to make on New Year’s Eve and has passed on to me. It is sooo good and serving it in these individual ramekins makes it perfect for an appetizer or small dish for a New Year’s Eve party.

This crab ball appetizer is an easy recipe using Kraft Stove Top stuffing as the filler. It is a quick appetizer to make for parties or a delicious snack for anytime.

Melinda shared her recipe for crab balls. It is simple and quick to make, perfect as a party appetizer because you can make them ahead of time and cook right before guests arrive!
