If you saw our post on Wednesday you might have noticed the red, white and blue tie-dyed picnic blanket the kids were picnicking on. Tie-dye is so big this year and Melinda has been chomping at the bit to do a tie-dye project. So, with picnic season here we thought a tablecloth would be perfect for our first try! A tablecloth is great because it can be used for so many things; a tablecloth (inside or outside), a picnic blanket, or a backdrop for photos. If you don’t have a white tablecloth go check out a local thrift store to find a cheap one, or buy a white sheet. My white tablecloths don’t last more than a year or two before they get a stain on them that just won’t come out, so this was a great way for me to give one new life.
Guys, it’s already the middle of June! The first day of summer is just around the corner and I am ready! We had a very cold and snowy winter here and I’ve promised myself I’ll wait until at least July before I start complaining about the heat :).

A few months ago I ordered a personalized vinyl cut-out of my last name and a family quote when I spotted it on Etsy. The store I purchased it from is no longer selling them but there are tons of Etsy stores that will cut personalized vinyl wording for you, just do a quick search. Or, you could buy a Silhouette Cameo and be able to cut your own vinyl (and a million other things!) whenever you want. I have one now and I love it for doing projects like this.
Graduation season is in full swing and if you’re like me you have someone you need to buy a gift for this month. Money is always nice but it gets costly if you have several graduations to attend. I wanted to do something different, something special, that my niece could look at a few years from now and remember how far she has come. I remember how much I loved taking pictures and having them everywhere in my room when I was her age so, I decided to make a picture frame for her that showed her life for the past 18 years.

This fun Easter Carrot Favor is great for Easter parties or non-edible treats to put in your kids Easter basket.
Easter is almost here and that means it is time to start thinking of things to go in all of the Easter baskets! My kids are all about candy but giving them a whole basket full isn’t at the top of my list so every year I go in search of fun Easter basket ideas for little girls and boys. There are so many cute things out there that don’t involve chocolate :). One my favorites are these simple playdough carrots. They make great gifts for Easter baskets and fun classroom favors.
I have made homemade playdough for a few years now. I’ve tested out several different recipes and techniques and I finally have it perfected. Below is my recipe for homemade playdough that is non-toxic and lasts for over 6 months. No more stinky playdough hands or hard little bits of dried out dough!
We’re already at the end of March and spring is officially here (did you hear that Spring?! It’s time to start warming up!) so this week I put away the winter mantle decorations and started decorating for spring.
This year I wanted to use my new Silhouette and make a banner with bunny shapes. For the paper I went with floral patterns and solid color sheets with geometric patterns. I created 3 .svg files of bunnies in different poses and imported them into the Silhouette Design Studio where I created a cut pattern. Then I cut a few of each of the bunny shapes out of the different papers.

This month we helped a sweet little girl celebrate her first birthday with a Sugar & Spice themed birthday party! Friends and family got together to share in Cam’s big day and if the amount of cake on her face at the end of the day was any indication, I think she thoroughly enjoyed herself. [Read more…]
