Christmas Decorating Ideas – Home Tour 2014
Need a little inspiration when it comes to Christmas Decorating Ideas? This year at my house was all about golds, white, natural textures and deer!
I had so much fun decorating the house this year. MG picked out a beautiful live tree, I found the perfect paper mache deer head at Hobby Lobby and added a new bottle brush tree to my mantle decor. I couldn’t be happier with how everything looks!
I kept everything in whites and golds this year, with some burlap and other natural textures to add some contrast. We just got our walls painted and I love how everything looks against the soft gray — Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray for anyone interested. The gold trees on the end are from Target last year, along with the ceramic white deer. The balls are a garland I found at Target this year. They are gold and silver glitter and burlap with gold glitter. I originally bought the garlands for the tree but I didn’t want to do greenery on the mantle this year so I threw one up there and I really like how it filled the space.
The gold mason jars and white bottle brush tree are also Target finds from this year. I’m totally infatuated with that bottle brush tree, it’s all snowy and shimmery, and the mason jars have that mercury glass look that I think makes them pair perfectly with the trees.
I made the white tree on the other end of the mantel last year. It is a styrofoam cone covered in pine cone pieces and then painted white. It took forever to make but I really like how it turned out.
As much as I love everything else this guy is my favorite piece of holiday decor this year. I’m in love. I found him completely by accident, hanging out in an aisle at Hobby Lobby and when I saw him he called my name. You should have seen MG’s face when I ran in for a chalk marker and came back out with a deer head. These things happen… I painted him white and since he is hollow I poked a small hole in the back and pushed a command hook in, then I stuck him up on the wall in the middle of my wreath. The wreath was another good find this year. It is 30 inches and it fills the space over the mantle perfectly.
Last, but certainly not least is the tree. MG always gets to pick it out, he loves having a live tree and as much as I complain about the constant vacuuming required, it is totally worth it. We have really high ceilings so the tree is a little over 9 feet tall and about 5 feet wide. the ornaments are all creams, golds, glass and metal. And at night it is even prettier…
I wish I was able to get a better picture of it…maybe Santa will bring me a new lens for Christmas ;).
Both of these ornaments are new this year from Pier 1 but the glass teardrop is my favorite. I bought 4 and they are beautiful on the tree, especially at night.
That’s it, simple but pretty. I may have to leave it up until February ;).
