Are you guys excited about the new Pete’s Dragon hitting theaters today? I remember how much I loved watching it as a kid so I’m hoping it is good! I’ve already had the kids watch the original and I’m really looking forward to seeing what they think of the newest version. My son is all about dinosaurs and dragons so I’m pretty sure it is going to be a hit in our house. I can just imagine how many dragon birthday parties we’re going to be going to!

Today I’ve got some super cute, and simple to make, Dragon Feet Cookies that were inspired by Pete’s Dragon. They start with a Nutter Butter Cookie (Vienna Fingers work too if you have a nut allergy!). I wanted to give them a whimsical, magical feel so I coated them in bright colored candy melts and swirled in a second bright color with a toothpick. No need to make the chocolate perfectly smooth. I think the texture gives it the feel of scales or fur.

The claws are made from Laffy Taffy. A word of warning don’t start this project when the kids are around! My kids were stealing away pieces of Laffy Taffy faster than I could use them ;).  To give the claws a marbled look I twisted a couple of different colors together and then rolled them into claw shapes before pressing them into the chocolate melts. I love the look and the kids thought they were great. These can play double duty as monster feet so even if you don’t have any dragon fans in your house you can make these for your upcoming Halloween party !
