With the holidays come lots of holiday parties and we wanted to share with you a few easy holiday appetizers that are perfect for Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties. We recently had the pleasure of sampling some amazing French wines and cheeses courtesy of the French Ministry of Agriculture and each appetizer is made with a delicious French cheese and pairs with one of the four French wines.
Georges Duboeuf Wines:
Les Vins Georges Duboeuf is a family-owned winery in the heart of the Beaujolais region of France that produces Georges Duboeuf wines with an emphasis on quality and terroir since 1964.
George Duboeuf Beaujolais-Villages 2015 is a Gamay with notes of ripe strawberry and black currant along with notes of bright juicy cherries and raspberries. It has a smooth velvety mouthfeel and a touch of cinnamon on the finish. It is best served slight chilled.
We paired this wine with Ile de France double crème Brie. the Ile de France is a top seller of gourmet cheeses in the United States and you can find it at gourmet stores and supermarkets throughout the United States. Ile de France double crème Brie is a smooth, creamy cheese with a mild flavor. We rolled it up in salty prosciutto to make easy cheese pinwheels. They are the perfect little bite with a cracker or some crusty bread.
Georges Duboeuf Pouilly-Fuissé 2015 is a Chardonnay with aromas of roasted almonds, peach and pear. It is a beautiful wine with a long lasting finish.
We paired this with one of my favorite cheeses, Ile de France Plain Goat Cheese. It has a tangy, slightly salty flavor with a rich, creamy texture. We placed a teaspoon of goat cheese in a phyllo cup and baked them at 350 degrees F. for 10 minutes . When they were baked we topped each of them with 1/4 tsp of peach preserves. It was a beautiful compliment to the Georges Duboeuf Pouilly-Fuissé 2015.

Légende Rouge is a Red Bordeaux that is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot. It has a rich oaky flavor with a long, fresh and fruity finish. It pairs with Beef, lamb, duck and hard-aged cheeses.
We paired it with a crusty piece of french bread with a generous smear of Ile de France Saint Agur blue cheese. Saint Agur has a mild flavor and it contains 60% butter cream making it a double-cream cheese that is easy to spread. We topped it with a thin slice of roast beef.
Légende Blanc is a White Bordeaux made with 50% Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Sémillon,10% Sauvignon Gris. It is refined and aromatic, combining citrus notes (grapefruit, lime) with aromas of exotic fruit (passion fruit).
Ile de France Saint André is known as “the heavenly cheese. Saint André is a soft ripened triple cream cheese with a salty tang. It is the perfect smooth and creamy cheese for a holiday cheese board. We paired it with a platter of crusty french baguette, thick, crisp crackers, and fried fruit.
French wines and cheese are always great at holiday parties and with these easy holiday appetizers you can create a beautiful French cheese board that your guests will love.
