This Kool-Aid Slushie Ice Cream Float is a fun summer treat for the kids (and you too!)
Last weekend was one of our first weekends with no rain and temperatures in the 80s. I was so excited to be able to slip on a pair of flip-flop and shorts and hang out with Melinda and her kids in the sunshine! I don’t know about you but ever since I was a kid warm weather and Kool-Aid go hand-in-hand, and now that I have so many kids in my life I’m spreading my love to the next generation of Kool-Aid drinkers.
I’m loving the new Kool-Aid Easy Mix. I found it at Walmart the other day and I got to try a sample at demo they were having. Kool-Aid Easy Mix comes in three flavors, Cherry, Tropical Punch, and Grape, and you can make a pitcher or a glass. It’s really inexpensive and a bottle is big enough to make 6 quarts or 3 pitchers! Kool-Aid Easy Mix is easy to use all you have to do is add water, but this weekend, since I’m such a cool auntie I made the kids a special treat, Kool-Aid slushie ice cream floats! Sounds pretty awesome right?
I followed the Kool-Aid Easy Mix instructions for making a pitcher of Tropical punch but instead of using all water I used 4 cups of ice and 1 cup of water. I put it all in a blender and pureed it until I had a slushie.
Sure I could have stopped there but I made it even better by putting a layer of vanilla ice cream on the bottom, filling the rest of the glass with Kool-Aid slushie and then topped it all off with whipped cream. Amazing! The kids loved it, I loved it, and it was a perfect summery treat on a beautiful day.
