Make Ahead Egg Nog Casserole

This make ahead egg nog french toast is a breakfast casserole that has all of the flavors of the holiday drink we all love, egg nog.

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 loaf French bread cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups eggnog
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon Dark Rum or Rum Extract


  1. Prepare a 9x13 inch baking dish by greasing it with butter.
  2. In a sauce pan melt butter, then mix in brown sugar and maple syrup.
  3. Stir the mixture until it begins to boil then remove it from the heat and pour it into the baking dish.
  4. Place the bread cubes in the baking dish and sprinkle them with the cinnamon and nutmeg.
  5. In a large bowl whisk together egg, egg nog, vanilla, and run.
  6. Pour egg mixture over the bread cubes making sure they are thoroughly coated.
  7. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place it in the refrigerator overnight.
  8. When ready to bake preheat the oven to 350°F.
  9. Place baking dish in the oven and bake, covered, for 35 minutes, then uncover and bake for another 10 minutes, or until top is golden brown.
