In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice. Set aside.
In bowl of your mixer mix together the brown sugar and melted butter. Add the molasses, egg, vanilla extract, and buttermilk. Mix until smooth and well combined.
Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients mixing until everything is incorporated. Don’t overmix, it’s okay if it’s a little lumpy.
Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar for a festive touch or drizzle with a simple vanilla glaze if you're feeling extra.
