Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoons Nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon Allspice
  • ½ cup Brown sugar
  • ½ cup Butter. Melted
  • cup Molasses
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Buttermilk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice. Set aside.
  • In bowl of your mixer mix together the brown sugar and melted butter. Add the molasses, egg, vanilla extract, and buttermilk. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  • Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients mixing until everything is incorporated. Don’t overmix, it’s okay if it’s a little lumpy.
  • Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar for a festive touch or drizzle with a simple vanilla glaze if you're feeling extra.
