Get in the mood for fall with a little Fall Mantel Decor and an Apple Cider Moscow Mule.
Fall is in the air! The kids are back in school, the mornings have been cool and crisp, and stores are filling their shelves with cute fall decor. Last weekend I stopped in to Pier 1 (that’s my happy place!) and I caught the fall fever. I came home with some new things, pulled all of my summer decor down off of the mantel and spent the weekend filling it with the colors and textures of fall.
My mantel is the heart of my home. I found it a few years ago and it is made from one huge, thick piece of wood that is over 100 years old. It is gorgeous and rustic, and exactly what I wanted for my big stone fireplace. My kitchen is open to my family room so my mantel is always in sight and I love filling it with decor that sets the tone for the season or a holiday.
Before we even get into the decorating I have to share my fall-inspired drink recipe. Remember that hammered copper pitcher and Moscow mule mug set that I got my husband for Father’s Day? And the awesome Citrus Moscow Mule recipe that went along with it? Well with a new season comes a new drink! Apple Cider Mules and a few apple turnovers on a pretty copper and white platter will make for a fun fall evening by the fire.
Alright, back to my mantel. The piece of art that started my fall frenzy was the big, gorgeous deer painting you see above. It is just the right size for my mantel and I love the bold fall colors. The deer goes perfectly with my rustic decor style and I paired it with a faux antler mini wreath, and a cute little natural deer that might make his home on the mantel until Christmas!
Fall isn’t made of deer alone. I also got some new pumpkins. I have to warn you, I’m kind of a pumpkin addict. I love using them in fall decorating because they can stay up all the way through November. Anything that makes life easier is A-OK by me! Pier 1 had pumpkins in all shapes, sizes, and textures. I bought a woodland pumpkin that looks like it is made from a twisted piece of drift wood but is actually made from resin, pumpkins made with feathers and leaves, and some LED rattan pumpkins that I placed on my hearth.
To fill in some of the empty space between the mantel and the fireplace I hung a simple “Give Thanks” wooden block banner. I love the dark stained wood and white painted letters and like the pumpkins it can stay up through Thanksgiving!
My fall decor spread out a little from the mantel. I couldn’t resist that pretty harvest traditions maple leaf pillow and the bright and cheerful chenille streamers striped throw. Both are going to be perfect for snuggling up next to the fire this fall.
