Make holiday entertaining easy with these sweet and spicy Slow Cooker Spiced Nuts (made without eggs!) and a simple Turkey and Cranberry Panini made with cranberry salsa.

Slow Cooker Spiced Nuts on a baking sheetWe’re counting down to the holidays and the office parties and gift exchanges have already started. Today I wanted to share not one but TWO recipes with you that I’m making for my friends and family during the holiday season. Slow Cooker Spiced Nuts, and a delicious Turkey and Cranberry Panini made with crusty bread, creamy brie cheese, and a sweet and spicy cranberry salsa. They are both simple to make and totally delicious. Just the kind of recipes you need to feed a house full of guests!

Slow Cooker Spiced Nuts

Let’s start with the Slow Cooker Spiced Nuts because they not only make a great snack to have around the house during the holidays, they also make a really thoughtful gift. Making them in a slow cooker means you can cook up a big batch for friends and family and all you have to do is put all of the ingredients in the slow cooker, turn it on, and stir every now and then.

Slow cookers make holiday cooking so easy, and I’ve been loving my De’Longhi Livenza Slow Cooker. It’s a step up from the classic slow cooker because the 6 quart cooking pot is stovetop-safe. That means no more dirtying another pan to brown your meat before placing it in the slow cooker. You can roast or sauté the ingredients right in the cooking pot and then place it in the slow cooker, set to low, medium, or high, and let it finish cooking. It even has a programmable timer so you can truly set it and forget it! It will auto keep warm for up to 12 hours, and when the meal is over you can put both the pot and the lid in the dishwasher for easy clean-up. It has inspired me to do a lot more slow-cooking this winter!

How to Make Slow Cooker Spiced Nuts:

  1. Spray the cooking pan of your slow cooker with non-stick spray.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, an chili powder.
  3. Add nuts to the slow cooker and sprinkle the sugar and spices over them.
  4. Add water and stir until fully combined.
  5. Place a paper towel over the top of the slow cooker pot and then place the lid on it. This keeps the condensation that gathers on the glass lid from falling back into the pot and making the nuts soggy.
  6. Turn the knob on the De’Longhi Livenza Slow Cooker to HIGH, set the cook time to 3 hours, and press START. Stir the nuts every 30 minutes.
  7. When the cook time is up remove the nuts from the slow cooker and spread them out in a single layer on a lined baking sheet. Let the nuts cool completely.
  8. Store in an airtight container until ready to serve.

Slow Cooker Spiced Nuts are so easy to make and they are totally delicious. The sweet cinnamon and sugar coats each one and that little dash of chili powder offsets the sweetness with the tiniest bit of spice. It’s the perfect combination. It also makes a great gift. Package the spiced nuts in mason jars, tie a holiday ribbon around it, and hand them out as a gift to friends and family!

DeLonghi grill pressing and cooking a turkey and cranberry salsa panini

Turkey and Cranberry Panini

When you have guests staying with you during the holidays you not only have to plan the big holiday meals, you have to figure out what you’re feeding everyone for breakfast, lunch, and dinner on all of the other days! We make waffles for breakfast a lot, and for lunch we make sandwiches like this amazing Turkey and Cranberry Panini. The De’Longhi Livenza Compact All Day Grill is a three in one kitchen appliance with three interchangeable plates; waffle, grill, so I can use to to make breakfast AND lunch for everyone.

Turkey and cranberry panini freshly toasted with grill marks on bread

I use the grill plate for my Turkey and Cranberry Panini because I love those nice, deep, grill marks but you can use the sandwich plates if you prefer. The sandwich is made with thinly sliced pieces of turkey, creamy brie cheese, and sweet and spicy cranberry salsa, all sandwiched between two slices of crusty bread. It takes lunchtime sandwiches to the next level!

How to Make Turkey and Cranberry Panini:

  1. Butter two pieces of crusty bread such as sourdough or ciabatta.
  2. On the un-buttered side of the bread place 3-4 slices of turkey, 3-4 thin slices of brie, and 2 tablespoons of cranberry salsa.
  3. Place the other slice of bread on top (butter side out) and place on heated grill. Close lid and cook for 3-5 minutes until bread is toasted to your liking and cheese is melted.

The De’Longhi Livenza Compact All Day Grill gets the bread perfectly crisp, that soft, creamy brie oozes all over the turkey, and the sweet and spicy cranberry salsa pulls everything together. It’s a seriously delicious sandwich! Once we’ve all eaten clean-up is easy. The De’Longhi Livenza Compact All Day Grill plates are dishwasher safe so you can just put them in the dishwasher and wipe down the outside of the appliance if needed. It has a nice, compact design so when it’s all cleaned up I can just wrap the cord around the convenient cord wrap and store it vertically in my kitchen cabinet.
