Taco seasoning is probably my most used spice mix. Most of my life I used the taco seasoning packets you find at the grocery store, but about 5 years ago, when I started doing low carb and really reading the ingredients in things I realized how many extra things are added to commercial taco seasoning, like silicone dioxide, and cornstarch, that up the carbs and have nothing to do with flavor. That’s when I started making my own homemade taco seasoning mix!

How Do I Make Homemade Taco Seasoning?

To make your taco seasoning all you have to do is pour all of your spices together and mix them thoroughly. The you can store your DIY taco seasoning in an airtight container in your pantry until you are ready to use.

Play around with the spices above and make this recipe our own by experimenting with the ratios of the spices and removing or substituting spices. Personally I leave out the dried oregano and paprika, sometimes I add a little powdered cayenne pepper if I want to up the spiciness or I substitute Chipotle chili powder for regular chili powder for a smoky flavor.
