We use this often on our hamburgers at home and it is always a hit. It is great for satisfying those fast food cravings while being able to control what you’re eating. It’s also a perfect ‘secret sauce’ addition to surprise your guests at a backyard burger BBQ!

People always think Big Mac sauce has ketchup or French dressing in it, but the actual recipe doesn’t call for either. It’s simply mayo, mustard, vinegar, relish, and a few seasonings. We substitute dill pickle relish for the sweet pickle relish to make this a keto Big Mac Sauce, but it doesn’t change the flavor at all and we stay 100% keto!

There are so many ways to use this sauce other than on copycat Big Mac sliders, even if you aren’t on a keto diet. Make your own Big Mac chicken sandwiches or spread it on veggie patties. It’s even great as a dip for French fries!

What is the Big Mac Sauce Made Of

  • Mayonnaise – To keep it keto, make sure you use regular, full-fat mayo. Lower fat options have added sugar.
  • Dill pickle relish – Just make sure to check the sugar content of the relish and choose ones with no added sugar. If you can’t find dill relish, just finely chop up dill pickles.
  • Yellow mustard – You can use your favorite brand.
  • White wine vinegar – In a pinch, regular distilled vinegar can work too.
  • Seasonings – You’ll need paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder.

How to Make Keto Big Mac Sauce

Step 1 – Stir together – In a small bowl whisk together all of the ingredients and set mixture aside.

Can You Have Big Mac Sauce on Keto?

The original Big Mac sauce is absolutely delicious and I know lots of people eating low carb love it. However, it causes problems if you are trying to follow a strict keto diet. The version you get it at McDonalds has added sugar from the sweet relish used in the sauce, but there is an easy way around that when you make it yourself.

For this recipe, we use dill pickle relish that does not include any added sugar. I promise it’s so good you won’t even notice the change. In fact, I like this version better!

This delicious sauce has 5 grams of fat per 1 tablespoon making it a great sauce to add to your meat of choice to help balance out your fat to protein macros.

How Many Carbs are in Big Mac Sauce?

There are 1-gram carbs and .2 grams fiber equaling less than 1gram NET carbs per tablespoon.

Does Thousand Island Dressing Taste Like Big Mac Sauce?

Thousand Island dressing does have similar ingredients as the Big Mac sauce and therefore the taste is somewhat similar. There are a few big differences, however.

For one, Thousand Island contains ketchup whereas Big Mac Sauce does not. This adds quite a bit of difference in flavor in the two sauces.

Thousand Island also uses a sweet paprika instead of regular paprika, and often contains lemon juice in addition to or sometimes instead of vinegar.

How to Store It

Store your sauce in the refrigerator in an air tight container. It should last up to 2 weeks.

This recipe makes approximately 1 cup of sauce. The consistency is slightly chunky because of the pickle relish so we suggest a simple 1 cup storage container with a lid.
