This easy Mint Oreo Dessert is a minty twist on the layered Oreo pudding dessert I loved as a kid. It’s a delicious, no-bake Oreo dessert recipe made with layers of sweetened cream cheese, chocolate, pudding, Cool Whip, and, of course, mint Oreos.
It’s simple to put together and absolutely delicious. You can serve it any time of year but it’s especially popular as a St. Patrick’s Day dessert!

Oreo Pudding Dessert Ingredients
- Mint oreos – These Oreo cookies have a great mint flavor. If you can’t find them you can go with regular Oreos you’ll still get mint flavor in your cream cheese mix.
- Milk – You’ll use this to make the pudding and dunk your Oreos to soften them up for the dessert.
- Box chocolate pudding mix – Make sure you get the large box of instant pudding mix so you have plenty for your chocolate layer.
- Cream cheese – Leave your cream cheese out for about an hour before starting so it softens enough to mix smoothly.
- Powdered sugar – A little powdered sugar sweetens the cream cheese.
- Cool whip – Cool Whip is perfect for this dish. We prefer it to stabilized whipped cream because it can hold up for several days.
- Mint extract – This give the cream cheese mixture a minty flavor.
- Green food coloring – Just a few drops of food coloring gives this dessert a mint green color.
How to Make Oreo Dessert with Chocolate Pudding
Step 1- Make pudding. Make pudding according to the directions on the box. Place it in the refrigerator to chill until it has set.
Step 2 – Soak Oreos. Dunk each Oreo in milk and place them in the bottom of a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
Step 3 – Cream cheese mixture. Place cream cheese, confectioner’s sugar, and mint extract in the bowl of your mixer and whip together until well mixed.
Step 4 – Add Cool Whip. Add 8 ounces of Cool Whip and the green food coloring to the cream cheese mixture and whip together until well mixed. If you want the green coloring darker you can add more a drop at a time until you achieve the color you desire.
Step 5 – Cream Cheese Layer. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the cookies.
Step 6 – Chocolate Pudding Layer. Spread the pudding over the cream cheese mixture layer.
Step 7 – Topping. Top with the remaining 8 ounces of Cool Whip.
Step 6 – Chill. Put it dish in the refrigerator and let sit for at least 1 hour.
Step 7 – Serve. Cut slices and serve cold.
Tips for making a No Bake Oreo Dessert:
- This recipe is super flexible. Try out different flavors of Oreos with different pudding flavors.
- If you don’t like to use Cool Whip you can substitute stabilized whipped cream.
- Make this a day ahead of time. The longer it sits in the refrigerator the softer the Oreos are.

What size casserole did you use?
It was a 13″ L x 9″ W 3 qt. baking dish
What is green extract?
Hi Bethany, it’s green food coloring.
In the ingredients you say 1 16oz tub of cool whip. You mix the cool whip with cream cheese etc and put that on top of the cookies. Further into the recipe you say top with a layer of cool whip. Where is the extra cool whip coming from? You don’t say to separate the 16oz container so either your ingredient list is wrong or your instructions are wrong
Never mind the normal containers are 8oz. 🙂 sorry for my confusion
Thanks for pointing that out. I’ve made the instructions clearer in case someone buys the larger tub of Cool Whip.
This one looks like a winner!
Did you use instant or cook and serve pudding?
We used instant pudding.
Does cream cheese need to be room temp or just soften
The cream cheese should be room temp or soften to be combined with the cool whip and sugar.
423,000 calories? Surely not 😳😬
I’m assuming you are referring to the kcal unit? If so the “calorie” we refer to in food is actually kilocalorie. One (1) kilocalorie is the same as one (1) Calorie (uppercase C). A kilocalorie is the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one kilogram of water one degree Celsius.
