These Witch’s Brew Brownies are the perfect Halloween dessert recipe for using up all of your leftover Halloween candy!
These easy Witch’s Brew Brownies are a fun way to use up that last little bit of leftover Halloween candy. I used a boxed brownie mix to save time but feel free to use your favorite homemade brownie recipe if you prefer! The goal here is to make a delicious chocolate-y brownie packed with a layer of leftover candy and a few edible eyes because…well…Halloween!
We love going all out for Halloween with Mummy Dogs for dinner, and then Candy Bar Cookies Bars, Halloween Magic Bars, or Halloween Dessert Pizza for dessert. If you’re having a Halloween party make sure to check out of some our other Easy Halloween Recipes.

The kids look forward to these brownies after Halloween every year and they love seeing who can make the chocolaty-ist brownies by packing it with all of the favorite candies. I’m partial to Reese’s cups and anything with caramel but the sky is the limit 🙂
What You’ll Need
- Brownie mix – You’ll need the ingredients listed on back of box ( eggs, oil, and water usually) and you’ll follow the baking instructions as well.
- Leftover Halloween candy – Any candy will work! I think chocolate based candy is best, things that Jolly Ranchers, and gummy bears, don’t mix as well with ooey gooey brownies, but you can add anything you like!
- Edible Eyes – We love these little candy eyes and they are the perfect addition to any recipe instantly transforming it into Halloween! You can usually find them at Walmart, Target, and Michaels (or any craft store) in the baking section.
How to Make Halloween Brownies
Make the brownies. Mix the brownies up according to the package instructions. Pour the brownie mix into a greased pan and top with half of your candy. The candy tends to sink as the brownies cook so I save the other half of the candy until the last 5 minutes of baking.
Bake. Bake the brownies according to the instructions on the back of the package. 5 minutes before the brownies are finished baking pull the brownies out of the oven and add the rest of the candy to the top of the brownies, pressing it down into the brownies lightly. Finish baking.
Add the eyes. When the brownies came out of the oven add the edible eyes and let them cool a bit before serving.
Yep, they taste just as good as they look! It’s a really simple treat to make with the kids that everyone in the family is going to love!

What a great idea for all the extra candy. Thank you for linking up with the Monday Funday Party! — Emily at thebensonstreet.com
Fantastic brownies!!
I baked left-over cookies, and these brownies are similar.
I loooooooooooove them 🙂
I love this idea. What kind of candy are the little eyeballs?
They are made by Wilton and most places that sell baking supplies carry them. I got mine at Michaels
I was excited to try these for a family Halloween camping trip this weekend, however I felt the instructions were a bit misleading. It says to pour the brownie mixture into a pan, top with candies, and bake according to brownie box. However when I did that the candy eyes I bought (which were the same brand as she bought) completely melted away in the oven. Luckily, I was able to salvage these by quickly putting more eyes over the yucky melted ones. I haven’t tried these yet, but I’m sure the kids will love them. Just wish the instructions were better written.
Thanks for the feedback we really appreciate it! We’ve updated the recipe to make it clearer. Hope the kids enjoy them 🙂
Thank you! And for the record these were so good. Even the adults loved them!
All of my candy sunk to the bottom so you can’t see them? Did I do something wrong??
Sorry to hear that Brandy I didn’t have that problem. It might have to do with the thickness of the batter? Mine was the super fudgy kind. I
Did you put the m&m’s on before baking also – or were those put on after the brownie was baked like the eyes? Thanks!
You can bake the m&ms along with the brownies but if your M&Ms sink down into the batter too much and you want a few bright ones right at the top you can add some at the end. That’s just for looks though 🙂
All the candies sunk… or seemed burned. I used the super thick and fudgy brownie mix… but it still sunk. White chocolate is definately not good. All brown and burned looking .. ????????. Very sad.. it looks so cute on here. Candy corn melts to nothing.. leaves holes in the brownie top. IF I make this again, I will frost the brownies and add candies to the top.
Hi Vicki, we haven’t had a problem with the candies burning but we made this again recently and the candies did sink in more than we wanted. We have adjusted the recipe to add extra candies on top in the last 5 minutes so some will be at the top. Frosting them is a great idea too. Thanks for taking the time to comment we really appreciate the feedback.
Hi, I would love to know what brand brownie mix did you use? Thanks ????
I used whatever was on sale! Lol probably Duncan Hines or Betty Crocker.
This is a great idea! When I first saw it,I knew I would have to make them! What size pan did you use to make them? Thank you!
We used a 9×13 inch pan
Out of this world! What a great way to use up leftover candy!!!
