One Pot Three Cheese and Sausage Ziti

This One Pot Three Cheese and Sausage Ziti recipe is made with Parmesan, ricotta, mozzarella cheese, and sausage in a creamy tomato sauce. It is an easy weeknight meal for the whole family.
Weeknight dinners just got a little easier! One pot meals are so popular right now and I couldn’t be happier about it. No one wants to be the only one left in the kitchen cleaning up after dinner, right? I want to be curled up on the couch with my family watching a show together before it is time to head to bed. So, anything that means I have less dishes to do after everyone is fed is amazing in my book :). Baked ziti is one of my family’s’ favorite dinners and I’ve made it even easier by turning it into a one pot recipe. You’re going to love ziti even more when all you have to do is throw everything into one skillet and, Ta-da!, dinner is served!
I wanted to keep the recipe as simple as possible so I used ingredients that I always have in my refrigerator and pantry. Ziti noodles, a can of crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, a mix of salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (you can skip the pepper flakes if they are too spicy for you!), fresh garlic, heavy cream, mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, and Parmesan cheese, and, instead of the traditional Italian sausage, I used Hillshire Farm® Polska Kielbasa. It is a premium cut of meat, perfectly seasoned, and fully cooked which means 1) I don’t have to remove casings from raw sausage and 2)I don’t have to worry about cooking it all the way through before adding the rest of my ingredients. It makes the recipe that much quicker to make and adds a little farmhouse goodness to the dish.
Putting everything together is super easy. Dice up the Hillshire Farm® Polska Kielbasa and cook it in your skillet for a minute or two just to brown it a little. Add garlic and cook for another minute. Then add your crushed tomatoes, broth, and spices, and bring everything to a boil. Once it is boiling pour in your ziti noodles, cover, and reduce to a simmer. Cook everything until the noodles are al dente, about 15 minutes. Once the pasta is cooked add your Parmesan cheese, ricotta cheese, and a little heavy cream, stir it all together and drop some fresh mozzarella pieces on top. Cover the pan again and let it cook for another 5 minutes until the mozzarella has melted and serve!
No one is going to be able to resist that creamy, cheesy sauce, and those delicious pieces of sausage. You can even sneak some spinach in at the end when you’re stirring in the cheese if you want to add some veggies.
One Pot Three Cheese and Sausage Ziti
- 1 pound Hillshire Farm® Polska Kielbasa, diced
- 1 tablespoon Olive oil
- 28 ounces Crushed tomatoes
- 3 cup Chicken broth
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon Red pepper flakes, optional
- Salt and Pepper, to taste
- 16 ounces Ziti pasta
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- ½ cup Ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup Heavy cream
- 1 cup Mozzarella cheese, fresh
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.
- Add Hillshire Farm® Polska Kielbasa and cook until browned, 2-5 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add red pepper flakes, tomatoes, chicken broth, salt, and pepper, and bring to a boil.
- When sauce reaches a boil add pasta and cover pot, reducing heat to a simmer until pasta is cooked al dente, about 15 minutes.
- When pasta is ready stir in Parmesan cheese Ricotta cheese, and heavy cream.
- Top with mozzarella, cover and continue to cook until the cheese is melted.
