Movie night Pajama Party with Hotel Transylvania 2 and sticky, salty and sweet M&M’S® Chocolate Candies S’mores Popcorn Balls.
It is finally winter here! I mean, I know it has technically been winter for a couple of months now but we’ve been having abnormally warm temps up here in Maryland (and I’ve loved every minute of it!). Suddenly last week Winter realized it has been slacking and the cold windy days have begun. That means no more spending the day at the park on the weekends and more curling up on the couch with the kids and some popcorn for a movie night.
Everyone’s kids have been going a little stir crazy so over the weekend we invited some friends over for a movie night pajama party where we watched Hotel Transylvania 2.
My kids saw it in theaters when it first came out and they absolutely love it! The kids and parent’s all dressed up in their favorite PJs and I made a snack bar filled with all of the goodies you love to eat at the movies…with a Hotel Transylvania 2 spin on it of course! We had Orville Redenbacher Movie Theater Popcorn, Mummy Dogs, Werewolf Munch (otherwise known as puppy chow or muddy buddies), Blobby Cups, S’mores Popcorn balls made with M&M’S® Chocolate Candies, and of course Coca-Cola Classic and Coke Zero to drink.

I had so much fun putting this party together. The kids aren’t the only ones who go a little nuts when the weather gets blah. Some of my favorite memories are being a kid and having friends over to spend the night. We would stay up later watching scary movies and telling ghost stories. So much fun! One of my favorite pajama party things to make has always been s’mores so I got creative and made S’mores Popcorn balls. I melted some butter and marshmallows in a 4 qt. saucepan, then I stirred in popped Orville Redenbacher Movie Theater popcorn and graham cracker cereal.
I let the mixture cool for a couple of minutes then, instead of just some plain old chocolate chips, I added M&M’S® Chocolate Candies Plain and Peanut.
The fun part was making the balls. I sprayed my hands with cooking spray and then scooped out enough of the mixture to form a 2 inch ball and pressed and molded it gently into a nice round shape and pushed a 6 inch lollipop stick into it. These things were addictive. Salty and sweet, every bite was all of your favorite movie treats mixed in one!
I got the Invisible Man in on the action by cutting some black and white paper straws down to size and placing them over the lollipop stick, then cutting some eye glasses out of black scrapbook paper and using a glue dot to stick them to the straw.
The kids thought they were the floating glasses were hilarious and these may have been my favorite part of the party.
The fun didn’t end there though! I also served Mummy dogs, tasty hot dogs all wrapped up in crescent roll dough and then baked.
Werewolf chow, my own spin on traditional Puppy Chow or Muddy Buddies (depending on where you are from).
And Blobby cups…because Steve (Blobby) makes me laugh every time I see Hotel Transylvania 2.
I dressed the Coca-Cola and Coke Zero bottles up as Draculas using a sheet of black felt, a thin red ribbon, and tiny fangs cut out of white paper. Super simple but oh so cute! It went along great with the rest of the table which I did up in old, haunted, hotel style. The way I think Drac’s house would look on family movie night!
I hung some creep cloth that I pulled out of my Halloween decorations. I stacked up some old books to give my goodies a little height on the table and I put popcorn in black cardboard containers that I got at the party store.
I needed something to put my werewolf chow in but I didn’t want it to be the same height as my popcorn boxes so I cut some leftover Halloween bags in half and filled them up. Then I loaded the table with all of my food and my vampire Coca-Cola and Coke bottles. It was so cute and all of the food was a hit!
Everyone filled their plates with movie snacks and settled into sleeping bags, and snuggled on the couch to watch Hotel Transylvania 2. It was just as good the second time and the kids (and adults) had a blast!
