Ingredients You’ll Need

For this recipe, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • Cream cheese – We use a regular, full fat version. Low fat versions tend not to taste as good or be as creamy.
  • Sweetened condensed milk – This adds a majority of the sweetness, so you really can’t substitute it with other flavors.
  • Cool Whip – Canned whipped cream tends to not hold its form as well as Cool Whip. You could use the generic version though, if you prefer.
  • Cherry pie filling – Our favorite cherry pie filling is Lucky Leaf.

Instructions

Step 1 – Mix the cream cheese and sweetened condensed milk in a large bowl using a hand mixer set on high. Whisk together until well combined.

Step 2 – Gently fold in the Cool Whip into the cream cheese mixture. Be careful not to over-mix. For this step, we usually use a spoon or spatula.

Step 3 – Spread the cream cheese mixture in an 11×7 inch dish and then top with the cherry pie filling. The mixture and filling should cover the pan.
Step 4 – Cover with plastic wrap and then store in the refrigerator until ready to serve. You can serve it with your favorite dippables or in a bowl with some whipped cream on top.
