How to Make Franks and Beans
This recipe is basically our Classic Southern Baked Beans Recipe with hot dogs added to make it a complete meal. It couldn’t be easier to throw together!
Step 1 – Prep the Hot Dogs: Cut the hot dogs into bite-size slices. You can use kitchen scissors or a knife – whatever’s easier!
Step 2 – Brown the Hot Dogs (Optional but Recommended): Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the hot dogs. Cook for 2-3 minutes until they’re slightly browned. It’s a tiny extra step but makes a big difference in flavor. If you’re in a rush, you can toss them straight into the beans without this step.
Step 3 – Combine Everything: In a large skillet or pot, add the Pork and Beans in Tomato Sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, and onion powder. Stir everything together, then add the sliced hot dogs.
Step 4 – Cook: Set heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the pot, and let it cook for 20 minutes. Stir occasionally to keep everything well-mixed.
Step 5 – Serve: Ladle up those sweet, savory, and oh-so-comforting beans with franks and dig in!
