This Loaded Au Gratin Potatoes recipe is a delicious alternative to boring old baked potatoes.
I don’t know if you have noticed by now but we love anything with cheese and bacon. Add those two ingredients to any recipe and you’ve got an instant comfort food. After I made my Duchess Potatoes last week I had a few potatoes left over and I needed to make a side for dinner. Instead of making boring old baked potatoes I stepped it up a little and made this easy Loaded Potatoes Au Gratin recipe. OMG, these things were soooo good! [Read more…]
This Duchess Potatoes recipe is an easy way to make boring mashed potatoes into something fancy. Guaranteed to impress your guests this holiday season!
This weekend I started planning my holiday menus. Yep, you heard me right, I’m planning my menus for Thanksgiving and Christmas. What can I say? This is my favorite time of year for recipes! I love going on Pinterest and searching for fancy recipes to try out. I have people over for dinner lots throughout the year but during the holidays I get to throw big dinner parties and make food that is a little more upscale. This is also the time of year when I long for an updated kitchen. Some people dream of a white Christmas, all I want is an open floor plan and a double oven! When we were asked to talk about the GE Café™ series of appliances I was so excited! I was like a kid again making out my Christmas wishlist. [Read more…]
This Fully Loaded Hasselback Potatoes recipe is filled with gooey cheese, crisp back, and sour cream
OK, just looking at this picture is making me hungry. You don’t really get much better than a fully loaded potato! It can be a simple side, or a meal all on its own. Either way all of that cheese, bacon, and sour cream goodness is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Melinda and I had a serious craving that started with thoughts of potato skins, and we ended up with this awesome hasselback potatoes recipe that we’re sharing over at Real Housemoms. The thin slices mean the potato gets more crisp than the usual baked potato and the cheese can get into every nook and cranny. Go check it out!
If you like the look of that make sure you also try:
We have something really good for you guys today! If you’ve been with us for awhile you know Melinda and I love our Keurig single serve coffee makers, they are awesome for making a quick cup of coffee or tea and now Progresso soup has a new product called Bistro Cups, that you can use to brew your own single serving of soup. Guys, I’m so excited about this! [Read more…]
Avocado Coleslaw is made with fresh avocado for a light, fresh, summer side.
Summer is coming to an end but there are still a few BBQ days ahead of us. Labor Day is just around the corner and MG and I are planning to have a few friends over. A few nice steaks, some roasted vegetables, and one of my newest summer favorites, Avocado Coleslaw!
Ratatouille is a light casserole of fresh vegetables. Vegan and gluten-free!
This is one of those recipes that I didn’t plan to make, it just kind of happened. I stopped at Food Lion just to grab one thing and as I walked through the produce section it was filled with all of these gorgeous summer vegetables. Yellow squash, zucchini, eggplant, bell peppers….they all looked so good. As I picked up a few squash Ratatouille popped in my head and it sounded so good I wound up leaving with a bag full of veggies (I’m going to be honest this happens to me in a lot of stores…). This Grilled Summer Salad is a simple foil packet meal made up of fresh summer vegetables, and finished with a lime vinaigrette.
Since there are so many awesome vegetables available in the summer I signed myself up for the Morningstar Farms’ Veg of Allegiance Program, and I’ve been going meatless one day a week. It hasn’t been as hard as it sounds! I’m really lucky because there is a farmers’ market that sets up right outside of my office on Thursdays. I walk over there for lunch and pick up fresh veggies for the weekend. They have so many fresh fruits and vegetables to choose from but two things I never leave without are tomatoes and sweet corn. Sweet corn is a big deal here in Maryland and we’re at the peak of the season.
Brussels Sprouts and Chorizo can be a side dish or an easy weeknight meal.
Some nights Rick is working late and it is just me for dinner so I make something quick and easy for myself. This Brussels Sprouts and Chorizo is one of those dishes that I threw together using what I had in the refrigerator and now I make it all the time. Don’t you love it when that happens? [Read more…]
This Jalapeño Cheddar Corn Bread is a simple side dish for an easy weeknight meal.
Did you know that May was National Hamburger Month? No? I didn’t either until May was almost over, but someone mentioned it to me last week so I used it as an excuse to fit one of my childhood favorites into my weekly meal plan. That’s right guys, I went old school with some Hamburger Helper® and this amazing jalapeño cheddar corn bread. It was quick and easy and the leftovers made a great lunch!
The secret to this Cucumber and Tomato Pasta Salad is beautiful summer vegetables. A great side dish for summer BBQs.
I know I’ve said it before but I’m so glad warm weather is here. Summer is just around the corner and my mom has been working in her garden nonstop planting all of my favorite vegetables. I think that might be my favorite part of summer. My mom stops by the house every few days with an arm load of fresh, ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini…whatever came out of her garden that morning. I pretty much live on cucumber and tomatoes in oil and vinegar served with homemade bread (also supplied by my mom, she really is the best). When we have guests over, or we’re just grilling out, I turn it into a pasta salad with a few simple additions.
