You may have seen this word keto popping up all over the place. We share recipes all the time on our Low Carb Pinterest board and our Facebook page. The ketogenic diet is becoming really popular. I have been following the keto diet for several years and I’m always looking for more low carb recipe ideas. These keto dinner recipes are normal everyday recipes with a few substitutions to take out the carbs. Eating low carb high fat is pretty easy once you get the hang of it and you’ll never feel better!

KETO Basics

Here is some basic information about the ketogenic diet. I’m keeping it super basic, so if you’re new to eating keto please use this as a starting point and keep doing research. Some websites that I found helpful when I started keto are Ruled.me and Diet Doctor. Besides keto dinner recipes, I am going to share some quick carb vs low carb substitutes, helpful products and ketogenic tips and tricks that I have come across in the past few years. Keep in mind this is all my own personal experience. I am not a professional but I do love food and am addicted to sugar so the keto dinner recipes I love come from a total foodie who wants food that tastes great. No kale chips here!

What is keto, ketogenic and ketosis:

The ketogenic diet is a low carbohydrate, moderate protein and a high fat intake. I recommend staying at 20 net carb per day for weight loss. By doing this, you will allow your body to transition into a state of ketosis. When your body is in a state of ketosis, it will begin to look for another source of fuel for your muscles. With the absence of glucose, it will start to burn FAT as fuel which begins the process of weight loss.

There are different types of the ketogenic diet, research and play around with your macros to find the right fit for your body. Everyone is different but for the most part staying at 20 net carbs is a good starting point for weight loss. To determine net carbs all you do is subtract the fiber (and sugar alcohols if there are any) from the total carbs. This gives you the net carbs in your meal. I can’t stress enough to research as much as you can!

To make it easier to find your favorite keto dinner recipes I have made categories. They are broken down by their main protein: chicken, beef, pork and seafood/fish. I also created a vegetarian keto recipes category. Within each category, there are a mix of ways to cook these recipes using a slow cooker, Instant pot/pressure cooker, and one pot meals. Variety is key in being successful while living a ketogenic lifestyle.
