Chicken Parmesan Sliders
These Chicken Parmesan Sliders are an easy slider recipe made with fried chicken tenders, tomato sauce, and lots of cheese baked until everything is perfectly melted and delicious!
Chicken Parmesan Sliders take the classic comfort food, Chicken Parmesan and put it on soft slider rolls, to bake it into a delicious bite-size snack that is the ultimate party food!
Sliders are one of my favorite things to make because you can take almost anything and turn it into a simple bite-sized sandwich that is perfect for feeding a bunch of hungry guests….or just one hungry family! I have a list a mile long of awesome slider ideas and so far I’ve made Philly Cheesesteak Sliders, and easy, cheesy, Meatball Sliders. Both were huge hits with my friends and family so the bar was set pretty high when I came up with my latest slider creation, Chicken Parmesan Sliders.

Ingredients You’ll Need
- Hawaiian Sweet Rolls – I find these to be the best rolls for sliders. Something about the slight sweetness of the bread just gives the dish an extra dollop of amazing.
- Breaded Chicken Tenders – You can use sub with grilled chicken tenders, shredded rotisserie chicken, or homemade shredded chicken if you wish. Whatever chicken you use, make sure you cook it first!
- Pasta Sauce – My absolute favorite pasta sauce is Rao’s marinara but you can use any brand.
- Cheeses – Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese combine to make a delicious, cheesy topping for your chicken parm.
- Seasonings – Garlic powder and Italian seasoning are combined with thee butter and brushed over the buns.
- Butter – To toast the buns with a little added flavor and a bit of crunch.
Feeding a large group? Why not try a slider party? In addition to these sliders, you can also add Philly cheesesteak sliders, copycat Big Mac sliders, and BBQ chicken sliders for the best of all worlds!
How to Make Chicken Parmesan Sliders:
Step 1 – Prepare oven. Preheat oven to 350°F.
Step 2 – Bottom layer. Place the bottom half of the slider buns in a greased casserole dish, or on a greased baking sheet.
Step 3 – Chicken layer. Place cooked chicken tenders on the bottom buns and then spoon the sauce over the chicken.
Step 4 – Cheese layer. Combine the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese and sprinkle it over the sauce.
Step 5 – Top layer. Place the top buns on the sliders.
Step 6 – Butter. Melt the butter and mix the garlic powder in until it is thoroughly combined. (feel free to add more garlic powder if you like garlic as much as I do!)
Step 7 – Topping. Pour the melted butter over the buns and then sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
Step 8- Bake. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 10 minutes, then remove the foil and continue baking for another 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
Step 9 – Serve. Serve hot and enjoy!
Do I Cook the Chicken Before Adding it to the Sliders?
Yes! Choose your favorite brand of frozen, breaded chicken, cook it according to the package instructions, and then add it to the slider buns to make your Chicken Parmesan Sliders.
Can I Make Chicken Parmesan Sliders Ahead of Time?
Chicken Parmesan Sliders are best served hot and straight out of the oven so I don’t recommend making these sliders ahead of time since the bread can become soggy if it sits overnight.
You can save yourself time by cooking the chicken the day before and storing in the refrigerator overnight. If you do this I recommend reheating the chicken before adding it to the sliders so that they are already heated through before going into the oven.

These delicious sliders were gone almost as soon as they came out of the oven. The smell of the garlic butter and tomato sauce wafting out of the oven as these sliders were cooking had everyone impatiently asking when they were going to be ready!

Instant party food! This would be a hit with kids!
Chicken parmesan has to be my most favorite food in the world. I never make it at home because I am a lazy cook. Thanks for simplifying it for me.
Hey there is nothing wrong with being a lazy cook that’s the reason I come up with half of my easy recipes lol. I hope you enjoy them!
Could you freeze this for later?
I would worry that the bread might burn as it was heating up.
What about freezing them after they have been cooked? leftovers? wrap them good and freeze?
You can try freezing them I think it will work. My only concern is the bread burning when you reheat it.
I love chicken parmesan! These sliders look so good and easy to make!

What brand chicken strips do you use?
Honestly I look at what is on sale at the grocery store but Tyson crispy chicken strips are one of my favorites.
This may seem like a dumb question.. If you’re buy frozen already cooked chicken tenders, are you putting them on the rolls frozen and they’re “heating up” for those 20min or are you cooking them then putting them back in with the rest of the ingredients and cooking another twenty min?
Cook the frozen tenders first then put them on the buns and heat the sliders to melt the cheese. We tried cooking the frozen tenders on the buns but the bread got overly toasted in the process.
I saw your feature at the Best Of The Weekend Party. These look delicious and will definitely be happening in our house – thank you for the recipe. Pinning to share and bookmark. 🙂
If u dont have slider buns use dinner rolls but dont pull apart just cut in half and put bottom in pan fill and put top half on when done cut apart
oh my … those look delicious! Pinned for future reference!
Do you leave the tenders frozen or thaw them first? Totally making this dish this week!
I suggest cooking them first then adding them to the sliders so they don’t have to cook as long in the oven and have the chance of overcooking the bread. Cook the tenders ahead of time if you are making this for a party. BUT when we made them we did cook them from frozen and it works. You do risk the bread getting burned on the bottom.
What brand of buns did you use? It looks like they could be Kings Hawaiian but I’m thinking those might be too sweet. Thanks!
Teri, you are right they are Kings Hawaiian.
Have you ever tried this with Alfredo sauce instead of spaghetti sauce?
I haven’t but I bet it would be amazing and I can’t think of any reason it wouldn’t work. Let me know if you try it!
Looking at the pics illustrating the recipe, it appears that the chicken tenders might have been put on the bread frozen (maybe partially), as I see ice crystals on the tenders in a couple spots.
When I make these, I think I’ll defrost/warm and/or partially crisp the tenders prior to the assembly of the sliders. The recipe doesn’t mention what to do with them, other than putting them on the bread.
Seems to me, that the tenders wouldn’t heat through properly based on the cooking time & temp. established in the recipe if you didn’t.
I thought this might be helpful to all who require more specific directions when making this recipe.
Hi Deb, the recipe calls for cooked chicken tenders. You are right the ones pictured were frozen but we found that the bread got too toasty if you had to cook it long enough to cook the frozen chicken through so we recommend you use cooked tenders.
Yum!!! need a side to share this week-end. Looks easy & won’t take me too long to prepare. GREAT!!!!
This recipe looks easy and yummy!!
Two of my favorite words in cooking.
Thanks for sharing!
What do you think about using cooked chicken tenders from the (hot) deli section of the store?
Sounds like a great idea!
Made these but didn’t realize that the tenders should be cooked partially or thawed before doing this. So my bread was starting to get burnt on top. So I had to bump up my heat and take the top breading off. Took so long to cook. Should definitely be changed in the recipe. At least I know for next time, but was an inconvenience.
Sorry it took so long to cook. We have the tenders listed as cooked in the ingredients but we will clarify it in the instructions so other people don’t make the same mistake.
These went down a treat and we’re devourered at the 1st birthday I served them at. GREAT recipe thank you.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed them.
Bake the chicken before you assemble sandwiches! This was not mention in the directions. Consuming raw chicken is dangerous!
Hi Jack we used frozen chicken tenders (which are already cooked) and the ingredient list also lists that the frozen chicken tenders used should be cooked before assembling.
It looks like you just assembled the chicken on the buns (no rhyme or reason). should the chicken be cut up (after it’s been cooked) and assembled per size of the bun? By the looks of the picture it seems the sliders could be difficult to break apart?
We didn’t cut the chicken pieces apart we cooked them and placed them in the buns then cut the sliders after they came out of the oven. You could definitely cut the chicken into chunks ahead of time if you prefer.
Could the finished product travel 2 hours in an insulated container? Or would the bread become too soggy?
I think the bread might get a little soggy.
If using frozen chicken tenders, do you cook them first and then follow these steps ? Or would you place the frozen tender on the bun ?
You should cook the tenders first. We tried them using frozen tenders directly on the buns and it takes so long that the buns get a little too brown!
Can this dish be prepared ahead and ready to heat?
I would suggest cooking the chicken ahead of time and then assembling and heating it all together right before serving. If you just want to assemble it a few hours before the party I would suggest adding the sauce right before putting it in the oven (it really doesn’t matter if sauce goes on before cheese or vice versa). That way the bread doesn’t get soggy while it waits to be cooked.
I made this and the only suggestion I would make is half the amount of sauce the bottoms got a little soggy. A spoonful on each is plenty. I don’t know how to post my pic wish I can turned out awsome.
I’m so glad you liked them!!
These were fantastic. I swear that the leftovers that I re heated the next day were even better! Making them again tonight.
We love hearing that! Thank you
Hi, These look delish!! I was wondering, does the bottom bun get soggy? Just curious. My son is picky, picky…PICKY!! Thanks!
I had no problem with the bottom getting soggy. If you put the sauce over the chicken it is even less likely to get soggy. I hope you like them!
chicken parm my husbands favorite! thankellisk826 s
I boil boneless skinless chicken thighs then shred them and add the onion, cream, parmesan cheese, garlic whip all together than spread in a 9 x 13 baking dish and bake for 20 min. 350 . then you can cut in squares and put on the buns and bake to warm buns. I add extra cheese before toping. they are the best.
Great idea!
I made this for my husband and toddler. I substituted the slider buns with hamburger buns so we each had meal portions. So easy and delicious! Will definitely be making again!
That is a great idea!!
Tried these for a party last night and they were a hit!! Thank you!
So glad they were a hit! Thanks for letting us know.
These are awesome! I use Tyson Parmesan Herb chicken strips and marinara sauce.
It’s all about the short cuts!
5 stars! Also tried this recipe with grilled chicken for a more healthy spin. Both were great ideas. My family loved these.
Love the idea of using grilled chicken!
