Football might look a little different this year but that doesn’t mean we aren’t partying in my house on game day. Everyone knows my favorite part of Sunday football is planning out the menu. I love game day food! Chicken wings, sliders, and all sorts of other goodies make halftime snack-time the best part of the game.

Delicious Game Day Food Ideas
Whether you’re serving a group of friends or just feeding your own hungry fans the secret to some quick and easy game day food is simple. Shop at Safeway. Seriously, it’s that easy. You can find the highest quality deli, bakery, and produce gameday offerings in the D.C. area exclusively at Safeway. Just one quick trip to the store and you have everything you need for an awesome game day spread.
Chicken Wings
The deli department at Safeway has freshly prepared chicken wings that are perfect for game day. I like to mix mine up with a few different flavors, BBQ wings and Salt and Vinegar wings are two of my favorites! Just head to the deli counter and have them pack up 2 or 3 dozen piping hot wings to take home for the game.
Simple Sliders
While you’re at the deli counter grab everything you need to make some outstanding sliders with just a few simple ingredients.
Hot Italian Sliders – Pick up some sliced deli meats and cheese including salami, pepperoni, ham, and provolone for these super easy sliders (see recipe below). They take less than 30 minutes to prepare and bake and I promise they are going to disappear as soon as they hit the table.
Chicken Salad Sliders – Get a quart of prepared chicken salad for some simple sliders that only take a few minutes to put together. Guys, I’ve gotta tell you this chicken salad is so good! It’s fresh, creamy, and totally delicious. You don’t even need to add mayonnaise to your slider buns just sandwich some chicken salad between them and you’re ready to party.
While you’re picking up the chicken salad you might want to give some of their other prepared salads a try. Grab potato salad and a little coleslaw to go with your sliders.
Fresh Fruit
Every party table needs a little fresh fruit. Safeway stores have fresh cut fruit bowls that are convenient and perfect to include in your game day meal. They come in a variety of different fruit from fresh sliced melon to bowls of mixed berries. I love that they come in several sizes so you can buy just the right amount for your get together. I like buying a couple of different small bowls so I can have a few different types of fruit.
Dessert
It’s not a party without dessert! Safeway stores have you covered there too. They have freshly-baked treats in the bakery that will satisfy any sweet tooth. Perfectly chocolatey brownies, Signature SELECT™ Chocolate Chip Cookies, and even football-themed cupcakes that are vanilla and chocolate frosted with cute football picks on top. Every one of them is totally delicious and the perfect addition to any party.
Game days should be fun so save yourself some time and energy and get everything you need for a great party in one convenient location. I shopped at Safeway in my local area, but you can also find quality game day goodies at the Albertsons Companies family of stores, including Albertsons, Safeway, ACME Markets, Jewel-Osco, Vons, Randalls, Shaw’s Supermarket, Star Market, and Tom Thumb.
Safeway also offers Grocery Delivery and Drive Up & Go™ for convenient ways to shop! I love being able to place my order online and then pulling up to the curb and having someone bring my groceries out to me!
Cheer on your team this weekend and enjoy some wings for me!
