Orange Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread
This ooey gooey cinnamon roll monkey bread recipe is a twist on the classic. Made with cinnamon rolls and baked in a sweet orange glaze it is the perfect breakfast treat.
While we love breakfast Melinda and I both agree that on the weekends brunch is the best and this easy monkey bread recipe made with canned cinnamon rolls is perfect for serving a crowd.
We love a good recipe that uses premade dough like our Lemon Cream Cheese Danish, Holiday Crescent Roll Breakfast Ring, and Apple Cinnamon Pull Apart Bread. It saves so much time which means we get to sleep a few extra minutes in the morning 😉 .

Why Do They Call Monkey Bread Monkey Bread?
The story goes that this delicious baked breakfast treat is called monkey bread because it is eaten with your hands, and people sit around it picking it apart the ways monkey’s pick at things and eat them.
Kind of funny right?
Ingredients You’ll Need
- Canned Cinnamon Rolls – Any brand of pre-made, canned, cinnamon rolls will work but we usually use Pillsbury. If you love cinnamon rolls for breakfast you need to try our Red Velvet Cinnamon Rolls, and Carrot Cake Cinnamon rolls too!
- Sugar – You’ll use granulated sugar for this recipe. It will caramelize with the orange juice and zest to make a delicious glaze.
- Orange juice and zest – These give the glaze on the monkey bread a delicious orange flavor.
- Butter – Melted together with the brown sugar seeps into the bread to give it an amazing flavor.
- Brown sugar –
- Salt – Just a pinch helps balance out the sweet ingredients.
- Pecans – These go perfectly with that cinnamon orange flavor and give the monkey bread a little extra crunch.
Instructions:
Step 1 – Prepare oven and pan. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and prepare a bundt pan by spraying it with non-stick spray.
Step 2 – Prepare cinnamon rolls. Open both cans of cinnamon rolls, pull the rolls apart and cut each roll into quarters. Add the white sugar, orange zest, and a pinch of salt to a gallon freezer bag then drop the quartered cinnamon rolls into the bag.
Shake everything together until the cinnamon roll pieces are coated in the mixture.
Step 3 – Assemble the monkey bread. Put the pieces of cinnamon roll into the prepared bundt pan. Then melt the butter in a small bowl in the microwave and, once melted, stir in the brown sugar and orange juice.
Pour the liquid over the cinnamon roll pieces letting it flow into the nooks and crannies.
Step 4 – Bake. Bake for 40 minutes, or until the top of the cinnamon rolls are golden brown.
Step 5 – Cool. When it is golden brown take it out of the oven and let it cool completely. You’re going to want to rush things….Melinda and I know this from experience…don’t do it! The delicious caramelized sugar that the bread has been cooking in needs to cool to firm it up. If you rush it then you will have butter running everywhere…so I’ve heard…
Once cooled flip the bundt pan over onto a platter and remove the pan.
Step 6 – Add toppings. Open the frosting included with the cinnamon rolls and drizzle it over the monkey bread then sprinkle the monkey bread with the chopped pecans.
This monkey bread recipe is so easy, and delicious, you are going to wonder where it has been all of your life.
How to Reheat It
If you are making this a little early (maybe an hour or two) you can let it sit out at room temperature until it is time to eat. Just like cinnamon rolls it doesn’t need to be served hot so no need to reheat before serving.
I do think it’s best when it is served the same day it is made, but if you happen to have leftovers you can store them in the refrigerator and reheat when you’re ready to serve.
To reheat the monkey bread place it on a baking sheet and reheat in the oven at 250 degrees F for 10-15 minutes or until it has warmed. Alternatively you can reheat it in the microwave. Place a slice on a plate and reheat for approximately 1 minute until warmed through.
Kids (and adults) love pulling off a few pieces of monkey bread as a sweet treat with their breakfast/brunch. Serve it with a big glass of 100% Florida Orange juice and consider brunch a success! If there are leftovers it makes a great snack too, but mine rarely lasts that long.

This looks so delicious and I will be making it except I will need to substitute the sweet roll as we do not have them in Australia. I can get a roll from the local bakery. I found you @ #loulougirls link up party!
You can also use canned biscuits you would just need to add your own caramel and pecans.
Looks really delicious and scrumptious!
